Oct 2011 The Loop has initiated a regional ICT professional development program. The first meeting was held this month.
Sept 2011 A remote ADSL connection to the Loop is now available.
August 2011 The Loop is back on KAREN together with a new filter system and router.

The new secure Loop Extranet has been launched. This new service is the first stage of the Loop's disaster recovery toolset.

SuperLoop meeting.  A SuperLoop meeting was held in Wellington. The SuperLoop is a loose alliance of the different educational Loop throughout New Zealand.

The Internet firewall was removed thus allowing wirespeed management.
Feb 2011 9 new schools join the Loop.
Nine new schools will join the Loop early in 2011. Waikawa Bay, Picton, Tuamarina, Koromiko, Bohally, NCA, Stoke, Lower Moutere and Brooklyn schools.

The is now officially a company with Loop schools holding sharing in the Loop company.
January 2011 MLE developments
The Loop has just completed a SSO (Single Sign On) MoE contract that has established a SSO service for all Loop schools.
January 2011 Loop upgrades the core to Alliedware+
The Loop has upgraded the core Loop switch/routers. The core of the loop was seven year old and needed upgrading to the modern environment. The upgrade will allow the Loop to peer with other networks (e.g. NEN) in a more positive environment.
Dec 2010 Talos
The Loop, TPN (Pacific.net) and BIT (IT Dept at NMIT) have worked together to provide a dedicated Internet link to be used by BIT research students at NMIT ... so that they can work in a isolated development environment that will not conflict with other Loop users.

The Loop has just started negotiation to re-join the KAREN and the National Education Network.

Tim Price has stepped up to take his place as the Loops routing engineer at a very crucial time. Tim is a Nelson man who has worked for a variety different IT companies and bring a great deal of expertise to the Loop.
