The development of the Loop has grown through a number of stages ...
- The Business Case (up to March 2005)
- The goal was to generate the policies, design and finance to test the Loop concept.
- This stage culminated in 'The Launch' where the community was 'shown' the concept in action.
- The Proof of Concept Stage (April 2005 to 2006)
- The goal was to action the Loop concept technically, educationally, financially and governance ... on a select group of different types of educational institutions.
- This stage is to culminate in a report to schools and sponsors describing the success or otherwise of the project
- The Roll Out (2007)
- This stage is looking to spread the Loop's connection across the Nelson Marlborough region to those schools who wish to join.
- Linking with other 'digital projects' across New Zealand.
- Fully introduce Loop services.
- Consolidation (2008)
- The number of schools on the Loop is 30+ including all the large secondary schools (+NMIT)
- All schools in the Top of South region have been approached and the advantages and costs of joining the Loop has been outlined. Any school wishing to join the Loop just need to email the Loop Manager.
- Loop services and peering opportunities will be continued to be expanded and developed.
